Do I need a phone line for my Virtual Landline to work? Not necessarily - Virtual Phone Lines appear to the outside world as traditional phone lines but operate over the internet. To receive incoming calls, all you need is another number - for example your mobile or an existing BT phone line.
What About My Existing number? If you want to keep your existing number we can port your number across. This will cease your existing line. You can request this when you subscribe to the service or you can request it at a later date. There is a one off charge for porting your number.
Note: Be careful not to port a number that supports your broadband, otherwise it will be ceased when it ports. If you are not sure if there is broadband on your number, contact us and we can check.
Can I have more than one number? Our Virtual Landlines are intended for customers who only want one number forwarded to a single device or destination. For more complicated set ups with multiple numbers and multiple users and devices, please look at our VoIP Call Plans which a slow you to build a full Business Phone System.
Do I need a Phone to use GRiP's Virtual Landlines? Inbound calls on all plans will be forwarded to your mobile or other number. For plans with the outbound call option, you can use the service without a phone by using the free App we supply. The App will work on PC, Mac, iphone or Android. Alternatively you can use a VoIP Deskphone.
If I do want a phone, what phones can I use? You can use any VoIP phone that is compatible with SIP. For example Yealink or Snom. You can purchase your own phone and configure it to work on our system or we can supply a phone pre-configured. You can order one here.
What if I have trouble with my Virtual Landline? Our VLL plan subscriptions include setup support and training. Our UK based VoIP Engineers will be pleased to assist you.
